Guidelines for using LIFX trademarks
These guidelines (Guidelines) set out the rules for using or referring to the trademarks owned by LIFX UK LTD, 153 Milton Keynes Business Centre, Foxhunter Drive, Linford Wood, Milton Keynes, United Kingdom, MK14 6GD (“LIFX”).
These Guidelines are designed to protect us from a legal perspective, but also to ensure our customer support team isn't spending a bunch of time fielding inquiries for third party apps.
- Please only use the LIFX trademarks as permitted under these Guidelines.
- Please don't do anything that is likely to make customers think your work is ours.
- Example of our preference for product naming: "Candlelight for LIFX®" vs "LIFX Candlelight".
- Please do not use the LIFX logo (or parts of it) except with our prior written permission.
- Everybody be cool.
Official sounding version...
For the purposes of these Guidelines, any reference to "LIFX trademark(s)" includes all registered or unregistered trademarks and trade names (such as words, names, symbols, devices, slogans, or combination of these) owned by LIFX from time to time and including, without limitation, the word 'LIFX®' and our symbol.
These Guidelines apply to any party wishing to use or refer to LIFX trademarks. If you are a licensee of a LIFX trademark and have been provided with special trademark usage guidelines with your licence agreement, please follow those guidelines. If your licence agreement does not provide usage guidelines, then follow these Guidelines.
By using a LIFX trademark, you are acknowledging that LIFX is the sole owner of the trademark and promising that you will not interfere with LIFX's rights to the trademark, including challenging LIFX's use, registration of, or application to register such trademark, alone or in combination with any other words or symbols, anywhere in the world. The goodwill derived from using any part of a LIFX trademark ensures exclusively to the benefit of and belongs to LIFX.
You may use or refer to the LIFX word mark (but no part of the LIFX logo) in a referential phrase on packaging or promotional/advertising materials to describe that the third party product is compatible with the referenced LIFX product or technology, provided they comply with the following requirements:
- The LIFX word mark is used in a referential phrase such as "compatible with", "works with", etc.
- The trademark is used with the appropriate trademark symbol e.g. LIFX®
- The product is, in fact, compatible with, or otherwise works with, the referenced LIFX product.
- The reference to LIFX does not create a sense of endorsement, sponsorship, or false association with LIFX or LIFX products and services.
Nothing in these Guidelines permit you to use or register in any jurisdiction, whether foreign or domestic, a trademark, company, business or domain name that incorporates any LIFX trademark.
If you are not satisfied with your LIFX bulb purchased directly from the LIFX Europe Website (the "Product"), LIFX’s return policy allows you to return the Products purchased by you directly from the LIFX Europe Website by contacting email@example.com for a RFR number, within the 60 day period following date of shipment by LIFX. If the item is returned undamaged, in its original condition, and in the original packaging in accordance with this policy, we will exchange it or offer a refund of the purchase price paid, which refund will be made by crediting the account used to make the original purchase.
All Products must be packed in the original packaging including any accessories, manuals, documentation, and registration that shipped with the Product.
Shipping and handling charges, gift wrap fees, and taxes paid (e.g., state, customs, VAT) are not refundable. You are responsible for and must prepay all shipping charges and you shall assume all risk of loss or damage to the Product while in transit to LIFX. If you return Product to LIFX (a) without a RFR from LIFX, (b) without proper packaging, LIFX retains the right to either refuse delivery of such return or charge you up to a 20 percent restocking fee. The time to credit your account may vary, depending on processing time. Please allow 2-4 weeks for LIFX to credit the account used to make the original purchase.
