Changes coming to Nest and LIFX
Google recently provided additional information to their announcement regarding the Works with Nest program. Existing devices and integrations, like LIFX, will now continue working with your Nest account, but you won’t have access to new features available with a Google Account. It’s still the case that if you migrate your Nest Account to a Google Account in the short term, you will lose functionality between your Nest products and LIFX. Once Works with Nest functionality is available on the Works with Google Assistant platform, Google’s aim is to make migration from a Nest Account to a Google Account as seamless as possible. Creating a connected home.
Nest is dedicated to creating a thoughtful home: a home that takes care of the people inside it and the world around it. LIFX works with Nest cameras, Nest thermostats and the Nest Protect Smoke and CO alarm to help you work towards making your home a more secure and efficient place, with elegant solutions to everyday problems.
Control your LIFX lights using your voice with the Nest Cam IQ indoor, with built-in Google Assistant. In addition to this , the Nest Cam IQ is your first line of security in your home. When Nest notices no one’s home, LIFX lights turn on & off to make it look like you’re home. And when Nest Cam spots a person, LIFX lights turn on to simulate you hearing a noise and you’re turning on a light to investigate.
Home/Away Assist: You can't be in two places at once. When you're on vacation, your Nest Learning Thermostat will automatically trigger your LIFX lights to turn on and off at randomly, making it appear like someone is home for added piece of mind when you're away.
Thoughtful Dimming: Nest knows when the action stops. When your Nest Cam detects a lack of motion it can dim your LIFX lights to help ease the kids and you into a peaceful night's sleep.
Visual Alarms: When Nest Protect senses smoke or carbon monoxide, your LIFX lights flash red to warn you, then switch to full brightness to help you and your family exit safely.
